Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you led a business development team through a long, complex enterprise sale.

What they are checking: Experience leading people through multi-month cycles where momentum and morale are hard to keep.

Tell me about a deal you lost that you learned the most from.

What they are checking: Honest self-reflection and whether they turn losses into changes in approach rather than blaming the customer.

How do you coach a team member who is great at relationships but weak at solution design?

What they are checking: Whether they can develop people on specific skills instead of only managing pipeline numbers.

What would you do

Cat Converge Suite is a dealer ERP built on Microsoft Dynamics 365. How would you explain its value to a dealer who is happy with their current system?

What they are checking: Whether they can sell change to a skeptical, long-standing dealer by tying it to the dealer's own business problems.

How do you work with engineering, product and Microsoft when a dealer needs something the product doesn't do yet?

What they are checking: Ability to broker between the customer, internal teams and a partner without overpromising what the roadmap will deliver.

A dealer in another region has a very different way of working than dealers in North America. How would you adjust your approach?

What they are checking: Readiness for a global role where culture, regulation and dealer maturity vary a lot.

About the work

Walk me through how you run early-stage solutioning with a dealer, from first conversation to a proposed solution.

What they are checking: Whether they have a repeatable discovery and solution design process instead of jumping straight to a demo.

How do you know a dealer is a good fit for adoption now versus one you should come back to later?

What they are checking: Judgment in qualifying opportunities so the team spends time where adoption is actually likely.

What do you know about how a Cat dealer runs its business, like parts, service, rental and equipment sales, and where an ERP matters most?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the dealer operating model well enough to talk credibly with dealer leadership.

How do you set goals and measure success for a team whose job is dealer adoption, not just signed contracts?

What they are checking: Whether they manage to outcomes that matter after the sale, like go-lives and real usage.
