How do you use a CMMS in your current or past job, and what do you make sure to document after a repair?
What they are checking: real hands-on familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems, not just awareness of the term
What's your experience working on HVAC or building automation systems, and can you describe a specific control issue you fixed?
What they are checking: depth of hands-on HVAC and BAS troubleshooting skill versus surface-level exposure
How do you approach preventive maintenance rounds, what do you check for, and how do you decide what needs a work order versus what can wait?
What they are checking: proactive maintenance mindset and judgment about prioritizing findings
What safety precautions do you take before working on live electrical equipment or systems with mechanical hazards?
What they are checking: real knowledge of lockout/tagout and personal safety practices, not just a rehearsed answer
How do you inspect and maintain fire doors and smoke partitions, and what would make you flag one as a safety failure?
What they are checking: knowledge of life safety code requirements specific to healthcare facilities
