Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

As a licensed psychologist here, you'd be working as a behavioral health generalist, including with couples and children. How does that fit your training and interests?

What they are checking: Whether they are comfortable with a broad outpatient caseload rather than only a narrow specialty.

This role expects at least 25 sessions a week with 30 hours of availability. How have you sustained a caseload like that before?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the pace of fee-for-service outpatient work and have habits that protect against burnout.

Tell me about a time you assessed suicide risk in an outpatient client and how you decided on next steps.

What they are checking: Whether their risk assessment is structured and leads to a proportionate, documented plan.

How do you keep notes accurate and timely when your schedule is full?

What they are checking: Whether their documentation habits will hold up to insurance billing standards in a fee-for-service model.

What would you do

A client's symptoms aren't improving after eight sessions. Walk me through how you reassess.

What they are checking: Whether they revisit diagnosis, fit and treatment plan honestly instead of continuing the same approach by default.

A parent brings in a twelve-year-old and wants you to tell them everything the child says. How do you handle confidentiality?

What they are checking: Whether they can set clear consent and confidentiality expectations with families at the start of treatment.

A couple you're seeing reveals that one partner has been hiding an affair, and they ask you to keep it secret from the other. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they have a clear policy on secrets in couples work and can hold it ethically under pressure.

About the work

How do you use standardized measures to track whether a client is improving over the course of treatment?

What they are checking: Whether they bring a psychologist's measurement skills to everyday therapy, not just to formal evaluations.

What changes in your clinical work when a session moves from in person to telehealth?

What they are checking: Whether they handle remote safety planning, privacy and engagement deliberately rather than treating video as identical.

How do you decide when a client needs a higher level of care than outpatient therapy can provide?

What they are checking: Whether they recognize the limits of outpatient work and refer out instead of holding onto unsafe cases.
