Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you had to convince business and IT leaders to adopt a new platform approach.

What they are checking: Influence and communication skills for a lead who meets with business and IT stakeholders.

Tell me about an outage in a virtualization or Kubernetes environment you owned. What did you change afterward?

What they are checking: Ownership of incidents and whether lessons turn into lasting fixes rather than one-time patches.

What would you do

Walk me through how you support a UCS and VMware environment while building its replacement at the same time.

What they are checking: Ability to keep legacy infrastructure stable while leading a platform transition, without neglecting either side.

A vulnerability scan flags dozens of findings on your VDI hosts. How do you decide what to fix first?

What they are checking: Risk-based vulnerability prioritization in a security-conscious, regulated environment.

About the work

How would you plan a migration of workloads from VMware vSphere to OpenShift Virtualization with KubeVirt, and which workloads would you leave alone?

What they are checking: Whether they can build a realistic migration strategy that sorts workloads by risk and fit rather than moving everything.

How have you integrated CSI drivers like Infinidat or Cloudian into OpenShift, and what problems did you run into?

What they are checking: Hands-on depth with software-defined storage on Kubernetes, which is often the hardest part of virtualization migrations.

Describe how you would build developer workspaces in DevSpaces with images like RStudio and JMeter ready to use.

What they are checking: Experience creating self-service developer platforms that reduce setup time and keep environments consistent.

How do you use ArgoCD and Ansible together to deploy and validate infrastructure end to end?

What they are checking: Practical pipeline design combining GitOps and configuration automation across Kubernetes and non-Kubernetes systems.

How would you connect event-driven workloads on OpenShift to IBM MQ reliably?

What they are checking: Understanding of messaging integration and delivery guarantees between legacy middleware and containers.

How do you use Red Hat Satellite and ACM to manage a fleet of clusters and hosts?

What they are checking: Fleet management experience at scale using the Red Hat tools named in the posting.
