Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

As a casual, as-needed tech, how do you stay current on equipment and procedures between shifts?

What they are checking: Whether they take responsibility for their own competency even when they are not on the schedule often.

The role also includes scheduling patients and staff and keeping department files. Tell me about a time you handled that kind of work.

What they are checking: Whether they can handle the administrative side of the job described in the posting, not just the clinical part.

Tell me about a time you worked with a demanding physician during a procedure. How did you keep things smooth?

What they are checking: Whether they can anticipate needs and stay calm under pressure in a high-stakes procedure room.

What would you do

How do you maintain sterile technique, and what do you do if you see someone break the field?

What they are checking: Whether they will speak up about a break in sterility even when it is a senior team member.

Pediatric experience is not required. What do you expect will be different working with children?

What they are checking: Whether they have thought about sizing, sedation and family needs in pediatrics and are open to learning.

During a case the child's oxygen starts dropping. What is your role in that moment?

What they are checking: Whether they know how to support the team in an emergency and stay within their scope.

About the work

Walk me through how you prepare the room and equipment for a pediatric interventional radiology case.

What they are checking: Whether they have a reliable setup routine so the radiologist is not waiting on missing supplies or equipment.

What physiological monitoring equipment have you operated during procedures, and what do you watch for?

What they are checking: Whether they can run hemodynamic and patient monitoring confidently and notice early warning signs.

How do you keep fluoroscopy dose low for a child during a long procedure?

What they are checking: Whether they actively manage radiation through collimation, pulse rate and time, not just leave it to the physician.

How do you track equipment maintenance and report a problem before it affects a case?

What they are checking: Whether they own equipment upkeep, since a failure mid-procedure can put a child at risk.
