About your past

Tell me about a time you made sure a solution aligned with corporate policy even though it slowed the project.

What they are checking: Whether they take policy and risk seriously in a regulated setting rather than treating them as obstacles.

Tell me about a UI or API design you led. How did you get feedback from the people who used it?

What they are checking: Whether they design with the external participant's experience in mind, which is the point of the front door.

How do you explain an architecture choice to a non-technical stakeholder who has to approve funding?

What they are checking: Whether they can make technical tradeoffs clear in business terms that support a decision.

What would you do

As a lead technical expert in PXT, how would you apply integration standards when a delivery team wants to take a shortcut?

What they are checking: Whether they can enforce standards with reasoning and help the team meet them rather than just blocking work.

A partner says your API documentation doesn't match what the API actually does. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they own the gap, fix it at the source, and restore trust with an external client.

About the work

Walk me through how you'd assess the technical feasibility of a third-party supplier solution for partner connectivity.

What they are checking: Whether they check integration points, security, scale and support model before a commitment is made.

Design the integration for a new network participant connecting to Discover or Pulse. What pieces do you need?

What they are checking: Whether they understand onboarding, authentication, message formats, testing and monitoring for an external payment partner.

How do you design an integration to stay reliable when the partner's system is slow or down?

What they are checking: Whether they use retries, queues, idempotency and clear failure handling suited to a high-volume network.

The posting mentions AI-native and agentic engineering. How have you used AI tools in your own engineering, and what did you check by hand?

What they are checking: Whether they use AI practically while keeping human verification where errors would be costly.

What does good monitoring look like for a partner-facing integration layer?

What they are checking: Whether they think about catching partner-impacting problems before the partner reports them.

Operating as an individual contributor and lead technical expert, you will define, deliver, and operate technology solutions to power the systems, applications, APIs, and infrastructure meeting the rapidly evolving needs of a worldwide payment network.
