Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about documentation or training you created for end users. How did you know it worked?

What they are checking: Whether they write for real users and check that people can actually follow it.

Tell me about a time you asked a question that changed how a request was solved.

What they are checking: Curiosity about the underlying process rather than taking requests at face value, which the posting values.

What part of Workday configuration do you want to get deeper into, and how are you working toward it?

What they are checking: Motivation to grow technical skill, which the team explicitly wants to develop.

What would you do

An HR partner sends you an urgent ticket saying an employee's pay change didn't go through. What are your first steps?

What they are checking: Calm, methodical break/fix work that also protects sensitive employee data and payroll accuracy.

Two HR leaders want conflicting configuration changes to the same process. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Navigating stakeholders and pushing decisions to the right owner instead of picking a side quietly.

About the work

Which Workday modules have you supported most, and what's the hardest issue you solved in one of them?

What they are checking: How deep their Workday foundation really is across HCM, Recruiting, Benefits and the other modules listed.

Walk me through how you troubleshoot a business process that isn't routing to the right approver.

What they are checking: Understanding of business process definitions, security groups and condition rules in Workday.

How do you approach Workday's semiannual releases? What do you test and how do you decide what matters to us?

What they are checking: Release management habits, since each update can quietly change how HR processes behave.

How have you built or modified Workday reports, and when would you use a calculated field?

What they are checking: Reporting skill, which is a large share of HRIS requests and a key path to deeper technical work.

How do you make sure a change you made doesn't break something else in the system?

What they are checking: Testing discipline and awareness of how connected Workday processes, security and integrations are.
