Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Have you worked with vinyl, decals or similar graphics before? What went well and what was hard?

What they are checking: Whether they have hands-on application experience or a clear sense of what the learning curve will be.

Tell me about a time you noticed a coworker doing something unsafe. What did you say?

What they are checking: Whether they will speak up about safety, which the posting lists as a core part of the job.

How do you keep your work area clean when you're working with knives, backing paper and scraps all day?

What they are checking: Whether they have habits that keep a shared work area safe, not just tidy at the end of shift.

Tell me about a time you had to follow detailed written instructions exactly.

What they are checking: Whether they're careful readers, since each truck is custom and follows its own print.

What would you do

You read the print and the measurement doesn't match what you see on the truck. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they stop and ask instead of guessing, since a misplaced graphic on a custom truck is costly.

You make a cut a little short on a customer's emblem. What happens next?

What they are checking: Whether they own mistakes honestly instead of hiding a flaw on something a customer will inspect.

How do you handle a lead asking you to speed up when you think rushing will hurt the quality?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance pace and quality and talk about it calmly with their supervisor.

About the work

Walk me through how you'd apply a long reflective stripe down the side of a fire truck so it's straight and level.

What they are checking: Whether they know practical layout with measuring and leveling tools, not just how to peel and stick.

How do you get bubbles and wrinkles out, and what do you do when one won't come out?

What they are checking: Whether they know the craft well enough to fix a flaw or know when to redo the piece.

Before you start an application, how do you make sure you have every material you need?

What they are checking: Whether they plan the job from the print up front so the truck isn't held waiting mid-task.
