Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you learned a technical skill by watching and working alongside someone more experienced.

What they are checking: Whether they learn well on the job, since much of this role is shadowing senior field engineers.

This role is remote with a company vehicle. How do you stay organized and accountable when your manager is not nearby?

What they are checking: Whether they can manage their own schedule and follow through without daily supervision.

Tell me about a time you had to finish a task on a deadline that you did not fully control.

What they are checking: Whether they keep PM work on time even when parts, access or other people slow things down.

What draws you to field service on medical equipment rather than a lab or plant job?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the travel, customer contact and pressure that come with keeping hospital equipment running.

What would you do

You are helping a senior engineer with an installation and you notice a step that looks skipped. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they will speak up respectfully about a possible error rather than stay quiet because they are new.

How do you explain to a radiology tech why a scanner will be down longer than they hoped?

What they are checking: Whether they can share bad news plainly and keep the customer's trust while the work continues.

A remote engineer is walking you through a fix by phone and the instructions do not match what you see. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can describe what is in front of them clearly enough for remote support to actually help.

About the work

What is the difference between preventive maintenance, an FMI and an ISI, and why would a new engineer need to keep up with all three?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that field modifications and service bulletins change how equipment must be maintained over time.

Walk me through how you would approach a system you have never seen before when a customer says it will not power up.

What they are checking: Whether they have a calm, step-by-step troubleshooting habit that will hold up on unfamiliar imaging equipment.

What safety practices do you follow when working on high-voltage or powered medical equipment?

What they are checking: Whether they take lockout and electrical safety seriously before they ever open a cabinet.
