Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

You're coming in from outside Circle K to run a store. What from your past retail or management work carries over, and what will you need to learn fast?

What they are checking: Whether they know their strengths and gaps honestly instead of assuming past experience covers everything.

Tell me about a time you had to let someone go. How did you prepare and how did you handle the conversation?

What they are checking: Whether they separate employees fairly, with documentation and respect, as the posting's non-discriminatory language expects.

Tell me about a time you turned around a team's customer service.

What they are checking: Whether they can show a real change they caused, not just say they value good service.

How do you build relationships with vendors and delivery drivers who come to your store?

What they are checking: Whether they see suppliers as partners who affect freshness, stock and store image.

What would you want your district leader to say about your store after your first 90 days?

What they are checking: Whether they have a clear picture of success and set realistic early goals.

What would you do

How would you earn the trust of an existing crew who may have expected one of their own to get the manager job?

What they are checking: Whether they can step into an established team without bulldozing it or being run by it.

An employee calls off an overnight shift an hour before it starts and no one will cover. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they own coverage problems personally and know the store cannot be left unsafe or closed.

How do you keep a store stocked and organized when deliveries come in during your busiest hours?

What they are checking: Whether they can plan around rushes so the floor, coolers and customers are all handled.

What would you do if you noticed a pattern of voided transactions on one employee's shifts?

What they are checking: Whether they investigate possible theft carefully and fairly before accusing anyone.

About the work

The posting mentions analysis of reports for inventory and cash control. Tell me about a report you used to find and fix a problem.

What they are checking: Whether they actually use numbers to run a store rather than going on gut feel alone.

How would you build a weekly schedule for a store open around the clock with a mix of full and part time staff?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance coverage, labor budget and employee availability in a real schedule.
