Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a project you led that had no clear playbook because it was the first of its kind. How did you define what success looked like?

What they are checking: Whether they can bring direction to prototype or developmental work where goals start out fuzzy.

Tell me about a time a cross-functional team member did not report to you and was not delivering. What did you do?

What they are checking: Their ability to lead people through influence, which is how most project managers get work done.

Tell me about a project that missed its goals. What did you learn and what would you do differently?

What they are checking: Honest reflection and learning, which matters more than a perfect track record.

How do you guide and develop less experienced project team members while still delivering on time?

What they are checking: Whether they coach people, as the posting asks them to guide and advise the team.

What would you do

You have used a formal stage-gate or project management process before. How do you keep a team following it without it becoming paperwork for its own sake?

What they are checking: Whether they can make a process like Schreiber's EPM useful to the team, not a burden.

Halfway through a project, operations asks for a change that will push the schedule by a month. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they manage scope changes openly with the sponsor rather than quietly absorbing them.

How do you report bad news on a project to senior leaders?

What they are checking: Whether they are direct and early with problems and come with options.

About the work

How would you evaluate a proposed project from a business point of view before recommending it to upper management?

What they are checking: Whether they weigh cost, return, risk and strategy, not just engineering feasibility.

How do you make sure a project in a food plant meets sanitation and government regulations from the start?

What they are checking: Whether they build food safety and regulatory requirements into the plan instead of finding them late.

How do you track project health so you see trouble before it shows up in the budget?

What they are checking: Their use of early warning signs like milestones, risk logs and spending trends.
