Tell me about a device program you took from concept samples to design verification. What nearly went wrong?

What they are checking: Whether they have truly led device development end to end and learned from the hard parts.

What does 'Right First Time' mean to you in practice, and how have you driven it on a team?

What they are checking: Whether they build quality into early design and process work instead of fixing failures after.

How do you build and lead a regional center of excellence when the engineers, designers and quality people don't all report to you?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead through influence and shared standards across functions and sites.

Tell me about a time a design verification result failed. How did you lead the team through it?

What they are checking: Whether they run a disciplined root cause rather than retesting until something passes.

What would you do

A customer wants to skip design iterations in the Design Lab to save three months. How do you respond?

How would you grow this business with new customers while keeping current programs on track?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance commercial growth with delivery, which a director must own.

About the work

Walk me through how you turn a customer's user needs into a container closure and device strategy for a specific route of delivery.

What they are checking: Whether they can connect dosing, patient population and delivery route to concrete design choices.

How do you decide whether an assembly process needs full automation, semi-automation or manual builds at the clinical stage versus commercial?

What they are checking: Whether they right-size automation to volume and program maturity instead of overbuilding too early.

What does Design for Manufacturability look like for labeling and packaging on a combination product?

What they are checking: Whether they think about line speed, tolerances and inspection while the design is still flexible.

How would you set up in-process controls and a metrology strategy that will hold up in a regulatory submission?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that measurement data must be capable and defensible, not just collected.

How do you keep design control and risk management documentation current as a device design changes?

What they are checking: Whether they treat the design history file as a living record that auditors and regulators will read.
