Behavioral

Walk me through a time you took over a multi-shift plant that was struggling on safety, quality, delivery, cost, or cash. What did you find and what did you fix first?

whether the candidate can prioritize and diagnose across the full KPI set rather than fixating on one metric

Tell me about how you've deployed a lean manufacturing system like TPS, Shingo, or the Danaher Business System in a plant. What did PDCA and daily improvement actually look like on the floor?

depth of hands-on lean deployment experience versus buzzword familiarity

Tell me about a time you had to develop or replace a plant leader who wasn't performing. How did you handle it and what was the outcome?

coaching skill and willingness to make hard people calls

Tell me about a time your continuous improvement roadmap conflicted with a short-term delivery push from the business. How did you resolve it?

ability to balance strategic CI work against operational firefighting pressure

Tell me about a time you had to build succession and cross-training plans for a workforce with a lot of turnover or skill gaps. What did you actually do?

whether workforce resilience planning is a lived practice or an aspiration

Tell me about a cross-functional conflict you had with supply chain, quality, or engineering over an operational priority. How did you get alignment?

cross-functional influence skills for a role with dotted-line teams

Technical

Describe your approach to Leader Standard Work and layered process audits. How do you keep improvements from sliding back after a few months?

whether they have a real discipline for sustaining gains, not just launching initiatives

How have you used OEE and TPM to improve equipment reliability? Give me a specific example with numbers.

real fluency with reliability metrics versus surface knowledge

What's your experience with MES or MOM systems and SAP or another ERP, and how have you used data from those systems to drive floor-level decisions?

genuine systems experience relevant to Industry 4.0 initiatives mentioned in the posting

Describe how you've used Kanban or Plan for Every Part to stabilize material flow in a warehouse or plant campus like this one.

specific expertise in lean flow and inventory discipline for a multi-building campus

Walk me through how you build a multi-year capacity and capital equipment plan and connect it to what happens on the floor tomorrow.

ability to link long-range strategy to daily execution, a stated requirement of the role

Situational

Say you inherit a plant where the visual factory is weak and problems surface days after they happen instead of in real time. What's your first 90 days to change that?

practical plan for building visual management and rapid problem exposure from scratch

If your daily production meeting is full of status updates but nobody is actually solving problems, what do you change about that cadence?

understanding of what a functional MDI or tiered meeting structure looks like versus theater

If your quality numbers were slipping because operators felt pressure to keep the line moving instead of stopping to fix problems, how would you change that culture?

commitment to quality-first culture over throughput at any cost
