Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you had to explain something technical or confusing to someone in plain language.

What they are checking: Whether they can translate healthcare process into words a patient or office staff member can actually follow.

What do you do when you do not know the answer and a caller is waiting?

What they are checking: Whether they are honest about gaps and use resources quickly instead of guessing or leaving the caller on hold too long.

Tell me about a time you went past the script to solve a customer's problem.

What they are checking: Their judgment about when flexibility helps a customer and when a process needs to be followed exactly.

How do you stay steady when you take many calls in a row and several are difficult?

What they are checking: Whether they have real ways to reset between calls so the next person gets their best.

How do you make sure a follow-up you promised actually happens?

What they are checking: Whether they have a reliable system for commitments, since broken promises erode trust with providers fast.

What would you do

This shift runs late into the evening. What kinds of calls would you expect after most clinics have closed, and how would you handle them?

What they are checking: Whether they have thought about the real shape of the shift and can handle issues when fewer people are around to escalate to.

A healthcare provider is upset because an order was placed wrong and the patient is now delayed. How do you handle the call?

What they are checking: Whether they own the fix and keep the provider informed without blaming another team.

A patient calls and is anxious about what a screening result means. What do you say and not say?

What they are checking: Whether they can offer empathy and direct the patient to their provider without giving clinical advice.

About the work

How do you verify identity before discussing an account or result with someone?

What they are checking: Whether HIPAA safeguards are a habit for them rather than something they skip when a caller sounds legitimate.

How comfortable are you working across several systems at once while talking with a customer?

What they are checking: Whether they can toggle between tools, notes and the conversation without losing accuracy.
