About your past
Tell me about a time you had to tell a customer something they did not want to hear. How did you keep the relationship intact?
What they are checking: Whether they can deliver a no or a delay honestly while keeping the builder willing to work with them again.
Describe a time you managed a problem from first report all the way to closure. How did you keep track of it?
What they are checking: Whether they own a case end to end rather than handing it off and losing sight of it.
The posting talks about Zero Defects. What does that look like in a customer service job, not just on the plant floor?
What they are checking: Whether they connect their own accuracy, such as order details and notes, to the quality the company promises.
Tell me about a time you noticed the same problem coming up again and again. What did you do with that information?
What they are checking: Whether they feed patterns back to the business so the root cause gets fixed instead of just closing tickets.
What would you do
A builder calls in a field issue on a metal building that is half erected. Walk me through your first hour on that claim.
What they are checking: Whether they gather facts and set expectations before promising a fix, which keeps a claim from spiraling.
A builder reports a shortage of parts and the crew is standing around waiting. How do you work with Manufacturing and Shipping to get them moving?
What they are checking: Whether they understand that idle crews cost the customer money and can push internal teams for speed without burning bridges.
The Project Manager and the plant disagree on who caused an error, and the builder wants an answer today. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they can stay neutral, get the facts, and give the customer a clear next step while the internal question is settled.
How do you keep a builder updated during a claim that will take a few weeks to resolve?
What they are checking: Whether they communicate proactively, because silence is what turns a manageable claim into an angry customer.
About the work
How would you use the plans, specifications, scope and job folder to figure out whether a reported problem is our error or something that happened in the field?
What they are checking: Whether they can trace a complaint back to documents instead of guessing, since claims cost real money either way.
What does COGS mean to you, and why would it matter when you are deciding how to resolve a claim?
What they are checking: Whether they see that every resolution has a cost to the company and weigh it alongside the customer's needs.
How comfortable are you reading construction drawings, and how would you get up to speed on our building systems?
What they are checking: Whether they are honest about their skill level and have a realistic plan to learn the product quickly.
