Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
This role covers delivery and pick-up of medical equipment and supervising the people who do it. Tell me about a time you led a small crew through a busy day.
What they are checking: Whether they have actually directed other people's work, not just done the work alongside them.
Tell me about a time a customer was unhappy with service and you kept the account. What did you do?
What they are checking: Whether they can protect customer retention by owning a problem rather than defending the company.
Record keeping and billing are part of this job. Tell me about a time you caught an error in paperwork before it caused a bigger problem.
What they are checking: Attention to detail in office work, since billing mistakes cost the company and frustrate hospital customers.
What would you do
A hospital calls at 9 p.m. on a holiday needing an infusion pump delivered right away, and your on-call driver isn't answering. What do you do?
What they are checking: How they handle the on-call, emergency off-hours part of the job when the plan falls apart.
One of your delivery staff keeps cutting corners on cleaning and paperwork. How would you handle it?
What they are checking: Whether they will address performance directly and fairly, which is the hard part of a first supervisory role.
The job needs you to lift or push 75 pounds, drive, and possibly get DOT certified. How do you think about safety when you're moving heavy equipment in and out of a hospital?
What they are checking: Whether they take physical and driving safety seriously for themselves and for the crew they supervise.
How do you decide what to do first when district management, a hospital customer and your own team all need something from you at once?
What they are checking: Their ability to prioritize under pressure when patient care and business needs compete for the same hours.
About the work
How would you keep track of equipment inventory, supplies and fleet vehicles so nothing goes missing between the warehouse and a hospital floor?
What they are checking: Whether they think in systems and records rather than relying on memory for assets that patients depend on.
What does it mean to you to process and inspect a piece of medical equipment before it goes back out to a customer?
What they are checking: Whether they understand that a skipped check on returned equipment can reach a patient's bedside.
Walk me through how you'd in-service a nurse on a piece of equipment they haven't used before.
What they are checking: Whether they can teach busy clinical staff clearly and confirm understanding instead of just reciting steps.
