Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Tell me about a time you had to learn a new clinical skill quickly under supervision. How did you approach it?

comfort with being coached and evaluated on competency before working independently, which is central to a trainee role

Describe a time you had to explain a procedure to a scared or confused patient. What did you say?

communication skill with patients under stress, since chief complaint gathering and instruction are core duties

Tell me about a time you disagreed with a supervisor's instruction or feedback. How did you handle it?

ability to receive correction gracefully, important given a preceptor evaluates every step before independence

What does it mean to you to work within your scope of practice, and can you give an example of a time you had to recognize a limit?

honesty about boundaries and safety-first mindset appropriate for a trainee still gaining competency

Technical

Walk me through how you'd position a trauma patient for a CT scan when they can't move well or follow instructions.

whether the candidate understands imaging protocol and positioning basics even as a trainee, and can adapt to less-than-ideal patient conditions

What's your experience with starting IVs, and how do you handle it when you miss on the first try?

actual hands-on clinical skill level and how the candidate manages patient reassurance after a setback

How would you go about learning a POCT procedure like a serum creatinine test if you'd never done it before?

aseptic technique awareness and how the person approaches unfamiliar clinical tasks methodically

How do you adjust your approach when imaging a pediatric patient versus an elderly patient?

understanding of age-specific care requirements called out explicitly in the job description

Walk me through your understanding of radiation safety and precautions you'd take for yourself and the patient during a scan.

baseline knowledge of infection control and radiation hazard awareness required before independent practice

Situational

A patient tells you they're allergic to contrast but their chart doesn't mention it. What do you do?

safety judgment and willingness to escalate rather than proceed on assumption

You notice the CT scanner is giving inconsistent image quality partway through your shift. What's your next step?

whether they know to stop, report, and follow quality control processes rather than push through

Describe a situation where the imaging schedule got backed up and multiple people were waiting. How did you keep things moving?

workflow awareness and communication with the care team under time pressure

This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and doing sliding transfers of 150 pounds with help. Talk me through how you'd safely do a two-person transfer of a patient who can't assist.
