Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a kaizen event you led. What changed, and did it hold six months later?

What they are checking: Whether their improvements last, since many kaizen gains fade once the event team goes back to their jobs.

Tell me about a time a CI project did not deliver what you promised. What did you learn?

What they are checking: Whether they are honest about failures and adjust how they choose and run projects.

Tell me about a time safety and productivity seemed to be in conflict on a project. How did you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they put safety first and still find a way to improve flow, rather than trading one for the other.

What would you do

You are new at the Skokie plant. How would you spend your first 90 days deciding where continuous improvement will make the biggest difference in safety, quality, delivery and cost?

What they are checking: Whether they learn the floor and the data before picking projects, rather than arriving with a fixed plan.

How do you get a skeptical supervisor with 20 years on the floor to buy into a change?

What they are checking: Whether they earn trust by involving experienced people instead of pushing lean tools at them.

How would you build CI skills in others so the culture does not depend on you?

What they are checking: Whether they coach and develop people, since a culture of improvement cannot rest on one manager.

About the work

Walk me through how you would build a value stream map for a valve or fitting product line.

What they are checking: Whether they can map material and information flow and find where time and inventory really pile up.

What does daily operational discipline look like on a well-run shop floor, like tiered meetings or standard work?

What they are checking: Whether they know how to build routines that keep problems visible every day, not just during projects.

How would you use root cause tools like 5 Whys, fishbone or A3 on a recurring quality escape?

What they are checking: Whether they get to a true root cause and a fix that prevents recurrence, not just a quick containment.

How do you measure the financial impact of an improvement so finance agrees with your numbers?

What they are checking: Whether they claim savings honestly and work with finance, which protects the credibility of the whole program.

What lean or Six Sigma training do you have, and where have you used it on real projects?

What they are checking: Whether their certifications are backed by results they can describe in concrete detail.
