Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you trained someone outside your team on a process they had been doing wrong.

What they are checking: Whether they can correct vendors and colleagues in a way that changes behavior without damaging the relationship.

Tell me about a time you turned a messy process into written requirements someone else could build from.

What they are checking: Their skill at documenting current and future state clearly enough for IT to act on it.

How do you stay accurate when reviewing hundreds of similar item records?

What they are checking: Their personal habits for attention to detail on repetitive work where small slips reach thousands of stores.

What would you do

You find the same data error coming in from several vendors. How do you track down the root cause?

What they are checking: Whether they solve the source of bad data through training and procedure instead of fixing records one at a time.

Your time splits between master data, the catalog and special projects. How do you keep the daily data work from slipping during a big project?

What they are checking: Their ability to manage a planned split of time when urgent project work pulls them away.

A retailer complains that a product page shows the wrong dimensions. Walk me through what you do.

What they are checking: Whether they fix the record, find how it went wrong and close the loop with the people affected.

About the work

The posting talks about the 3 Cs, consistent, complete and correct. Tell me how you would check an item record against those.

What they are checking: Whether they have a concrete way to review product data rather than glancing over it and approving.

What experience do you have with SAP or a product content management system like PCM?

What they are checking: How fast they can get productive in the master data and catalog tools the role lives in every day.

How would you test a new catalog feature in the quality assurance environment before it goes to production?

What they are checking: Whether they write and run real test cases and know what to report when one fails.

What would you need to understand about events and bulletins to support the Ace conventions?

What they are checking: Whether they ask smart questions about deadlines and data dependencies around high-stakes retailer events.
