Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time a business wanted to launch something and you had to tell them it could not go out as designed.

What they are checking: Whether they can say no with a path to yes, keeping the business as a partner rather than an opponent.

Describe a compliance program you built or matured. How did you know it was actually working?

What they are checking: Whether they measure program effectiveness through issues found, remediation and outcomes, not just policies written.

How do you keep up with changes in consumer protection expectations and turn them into standards the business can follow?

What they are checking: Whether they translate regulatory change into clear, usable requirements instead of passing along legal text.

What would you do

You'd be building a new Consumer Center of Excellence from the ground up. What would your first 90 days look like?

What they are checking: Whether they assess existing coverage, risk and stakeholders before designing a program, rather than importing a template.

How do you decide which risks in a broad program like this get the most testing and monitoring?

What they are checking: Whether they use a risk-based approach tied to customer harm and regulatory exposure rather than spreading effort evenly.

A regulator asks for evidence that your multilingual program treats Spanish-speaking customers the same as English-speaking ones. What do you show them?

What they are checking: Whether they think about end-to-end evidence like translation quality controls, complaint data and testing results.

How would you build and lead a team for a center of excellence that spans four quite different regulatory areas?

What they are checking: Whether they plan for deep expertise in each area while keeping one consistent governance approach.

About the work

How does ECOA and Regulation B apply to offering a multilingual customer experience, and where do UDAAP risks show up?

What they are checking: Their depth on fair lending and how inconsistent in-language service or disclosures can create disparate treatment or deception risk.

Walk me through the main protections under SCRA and MLA, and where banks most often get them wrong.

What they are checking: Practical knowledge of interest caps, default judgments and covered borrower checks, and the operational failures behind violations.

How should a bank govern credit bureau furnishing and FCRA disputes so accuracy problems are caught early?

What they are checking: Whether they understand Regulation V accuracy and integrity duties, dispute timelines and root-cause analysis of furnishing errors.

What are the key compliance requirements for FCRA prescreen advertising?

What they are checking: Knowledge of firm offer of credit rules, opt-out notices and how criteria must be applied consistently.
