Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you supervised peers or filled in as a lead. What was hard about it?

What they are checking: Whether they can direct people who may have been their equals, which this role asks of them daily.

What automotive experience do you bring, and where do you still have gaps?

What they are checking: Whether they know their own parts knowledge honestly, since expert knowledge is expected and bluffing costs sales.

Tell me about a commercial account you kept or grew. What did you actually do?

What they are checking: Whether they understand commercial growth comes from retention and follow-through, not one-time sales.

What would you do

If you started at our Dolton store next month, how would you spend your first few weeks getting to know the commercial accounts?

What they are checking: Whether they have a real plan to learn the customer base before trying to grow it.

A shop owner says a competitor down the road is beating your price. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they can sell on service, availability and reliability instead of reaching straight for a discount.

Your GM wants more focus on retail, but you think commercial accounts need you right now. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can raise a disagreement with data and still support the GM's final call.

A repair shop needs a part in thirty minutes for a car on the lift, and you don't have it. Walk me through what you do.

What they are checking: Whether they move fast through every sourcing option, because a tied-up bay costs the shop money and patience.

About the work

What does a good commercial stocking program look like for a busy shop, and how do you keep it accurate?

What they are checking: Whether they see that stocking a customer's shelf with the right parts locks in their business and cuts emergency runs.

A mechanic calls and only has a VIN and a vague description of a part. How do you make sure you send the right one?

What they are checking: Whether they can do careful parts lookup and ask the right questions before a wrong part wastes a shop's time.

When the part isn't in the store, how do you choose between special order, FDO and a second source?

What they are checking: Whether they can weigh speed, cost and certainty for a customer who has a car sitting on a lift.

How would you set up and use a delivery schedule so drivers aren't running half-empty or late?

What they are checking: Whether they think about routing and timing, since delivery standards drive whether shops keep calling.
