Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you managed a home health team's caseload when referrals came in faster than you had clinicians to staff them.

What they are checking: Whether they can triage start-of-care demand against real staffing limits without letting timelines or patient safety slip.

Tell me about a time you coached a direct care team member whose patient care was slipping.

What they are checking: Whether they can give honest feedback that improves care while keeping a stretched clinician engaged and on the team.

What do you look for when you interview clinical staff for home health?

What they are checking: Whether they know the traits that predict success working alone in patients' homes, not just a clean resume.

Describe how you stay current on home health regulations and bring changes to your team.

What they are checking: Whether compliance is an ongoing habit for them and whether they can translate rule changes into daily practice.

What would you do

A referral comes in on Friday afternoon and the only available nurse is already at a full visit load. How do you make sure start of care still happens on time?

What they are checking: How they balance the regulatory start-of-care window against clinician burnout and whether they know their options.

A clinician keeps submitting OASIS assessments that don't match their visit notes. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they coach with specifics and follow up, rather than quietly fixing the work or jumping straight to discipline.

How do you coordinate with a physician's office that is slow to sign orders?

What they are checking: Whether they can keep paperwork compliant through steady, polite follow-up with outside offices they have no authority over.

A family calls upset that visits have been missed and they feel nobody is listening. What do you do?

What they are checking: How they recover trust with a family while finding out what actually broke in scheduling or communication.

About the work

Walk me through how you review an individualized Plan of Care before you approve it.

What they are checking: Whether they read for clinical fit, matching orders and measurable goals, or just sign what the clinician sends.

When you do an OASIS review, what kinds of errors do you look for most often?

What they are checking: Whether they understand OASIS accuracy drives payment, quality scores and compliance, and can spot common coding inconsistencies.

Which performance metrics would you watch most closely with the Branch Director, and why those?

What they are checking: Whether they connect numbers like timely start of care, hospitalizations and visit completion to real patient outcomes.
