Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a disaster recovery test you ran that exposed a real gap.

What they are checking: Whether they test honestly and use failures to improve, instead of running exercises meant to pass.

Tell me about a time you led a cross-functional effort without direct authority over the people involved.

What they are checking: Whether they can influence IT, operations and security partners to deliver on shared goals.

As a supervisor, how would you develop the people on your team?

What they are checking: Whether they're ready to lead others and grow the program beyond themselves.

What would you do

A ransomware attack takes down ERP across several plants. What role does your program play in the first 24 hours?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how continuity, disaster recovery and cyber incident response fit together under pressure.

Plant managers see continuity planning as paperwork. How do you get them engaged?

What they are checking: Whether they can connect resiliency to the plants' own risks so leaders take ownership.

How would you report the program's maturity to senior leadership?

What they are checking: Whether they can show progress and risk in terms executives understand and act on.

About the work

How would you build an enterprise business continuity program for a manufacturer with plants across North America?

What they are checking: Whether they can structure the program around business impact analysis, priorities and plans rather than IT alone.

Walk me through how you'd run a business impact analysis with plant and corporate leaders.

What they are checking: Whether they can get real recovery time and data loss requirements from the business, not guesses.

How do you set recovery time and recovery point objectives, and what do you do when IT can't meet them?

What they are checking: Whether they can negotiate gaps between what the business wants and what the systems can deliver.

What governance would you put around the program so plans stay current?

What they are checking: Whether they create review cycles, ownership and reporting so plans don't go stale.

How would you account for third-party and supplier risk in a continuity plan?

What they are checking: Whether they think beyond internal systems to vendors and cloud providers the business depends on.
