Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you were working under someone more experienced and realized you did not know how to do the next step.

What they are checking: Whether a level-one tech will ask for help early rather than guess on equipment that touches patients.

Tell me about a time you had to follow a procedure exactly even though you thought there was a faster way.

What they are checking: Whether they respect hospital protocol and company policy in a regulated setting where shortcuts can hurt someone.

What electronics or hands-on repair experience do you have, and how did you learn it?

What they are checking: Whether their base skills in reading schematics and using a multimeter are real enough to build on quickly.

What would you do

You are at a hospital in El Paso and a charge nurse is upset that a monitor has been down for two days. What do you say to her?

What they are checking: Whether they can calm a frustrated clinician with honest facts and a next step instead of excuses.

Your service area covers El Paso and southern New Mexico. How would you plan a day with three calls spread across that distance?

What they are checking: Whether they can organize their own travel, parts and time when no one is standing over them.

You find a part in your inventory that does not match what the system says you have. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they treat parts inventory as something they own and fix, rather than something they leave for others.

A device fails its PM check but the department says they cannot spare it today. How do you handle that?

What they are checking: Whether they hold the line on patient safety while still working with the department on a practical answer.

About the work

Walk me through how you would troubleshoot an infusion pump that a nurse says keeps throwing an occlusion alarm.

What they are checking: Whether they work from the symptom toward the cause in order, instead of swapping parts until the alarm stops.

What does a planned maintenance visit on a patient monitor actually involve, from the moment you pick it up to the moment you sign it off?

What they are checking: Whether they understand PM as a documented checklist with safety tests, not just a quick look and a sticker.

How would you run an electrical safety test on a piece of biomedical equipment, and what readings would make you pull it from service?

What they are checking: Whether they know leakage current and ground resistance limits well enough to protect a patient without being told.

Every repair has to be documented according to schedule. Why does that paperwork matter so much in a hospital?

What they are checking: Whether they see service records as proof for audits and patient safety, not as busywork to finish later.
