Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Social network interviews ask people about friends and partners. How do you make someone comfortable sharing that?

What they are checking: Whether they can create trust when asking about other people in a participant's life.

Tell me about a time you had to keep accurate records for many people at once.

What they are checking: Whether they are organized enough to track many study visits without mixing up participants.

Tell me about working with people from backgrounds very different from yours.

What they are checking: Whether they can engage diverse participants respectfully, which the posting asks for directly.

What would you do

Walk me through how you would conduct informed consent over video with a woman who has never been in a study before.

What they are checking: Whether they confirm understanding and voluntariness, not just read a script aloud.

A participant becomes upset after learning her test result is positive. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they know to follow the protocol for linking to care and stay calm and supportive.

You have three study visits booked back to back and one runs long. How do you handle the next two?

What they are checking: Whether they can manage time without cutting corners on the protocol.

About the work

You would administer virtual social network interviews using Network Canvas. Have you used it or similar tools, and how would you learn it quickly?

What they are checking: Whether they can pick up the specific software the AWARE Study depends on.

The role includes coordinating HIV and STI testing per protocol. What would you need to know before starting that part of the job?

What they are checking: Whether they take testing procedures, result handling and confidentiality seriously and ask the right questions.

How do you screen participants fairly while still meeting enrollment goals?

What they are checking: Whether they would bend eligibility to hit numbers, which ruins a study.

What do human subjects protections mean in a longitudinal digital cohort like AWARE?

What they are checking: Whether they understand ongoing consent and data security across years, not just at enrollment.
