Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a data capability you built that did not deliver what you expected.

What they are checking: Honest reckoning with a failed investment.

This is an associate director seat at Mettawa inside the analytics and performance function. What would you want to know about the current data landscape before accepting?

What they are checking: That they ask what state the foundations are in.

What would you do

This role defines the roadmap for commercial data capabilities supporting reporting, analytics and operational decisions. How do you set data priorities when every function wants their source onboarded first?

What they are checking: Prioritization across internal demand, the daily reality of a data strategy seat.

You partner with enterprise analytics, the technology organization, data engineering and business stakeholders. How do you get a decision when all four have a view?

What they are checking: Driving alignment in a crowded matrix.

Two teams define the same commercial metric differently. What do you do?

What they are checking: Definitional governance, where most data strategy work actually happens.

How do you explain the value of data foundations to a commercial leader who wants a report next week?

What they are checking: Making a case for unglamorous work against immediate demand.

About the work

You would lead end-to-end onboarding of new data sources and vendor assets. Walk me through evaluating a vendor data asset before committing to it.

What they are checking: Diligence on purchased data, which is expensive and often disappointing.

Commercial pharmaceutical data carries restrictions on how it can be used. How does that shape what you build?

What they are checking: Awareness that this data is not freely usable.

How do you tell whether a data product is actually being used once it is delivered?

What they are checking: Adoption measurement rather than delivery as the finish line.

How do you decide whether to build a capability internally or buy it?

What they are checking: Build-versus-buy reasoning in a data context.
