Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

How do you explain a vulnerability to a developer so they fix it properly rather than suppress it?

What they are checking: Whether they can explain a vulnerability so developers understand and properly fix it, rather than silencing the warning.

What would you do

Walk me through integrating a security scan into a build pipeline without making developers hate it.

What they are checking: Whether they can add security scans to pipelines in a way developers accept, since resented controls get bypassed or ignored.

A team wants to bypass a security gate to ship. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can hold an important security control under deadline pressure while still helping the team find a workable path.

This is based at Mettawa on a team building a global application security capability. What would you want to know about the current state of the program before you took it?

What they are checking: Whether they ask thoughtful questions about the program's current state before joining, showing they understand what building a capability takes.

About the work

This role administers application security testing tools. Which of static, dynamic, interactive and software composition analysis have you actually run?

What they are checking: Whether they have actually run the main kinds of application security testing tools, because this role administers them day to day.

The posting names application security posture management to centralize and deduplicate findings from multiple tools. Why does deduplication matter so much?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the real cost of duplicate alerts across tools, because noise buries the findings that truly matter.

A scan flags hundreds of findings. How do you decide what actually needs fixing?

What they are checking: Whether they can sort findings by real risk and impact, which decides whether a security program fixes anything meaningful.

What have you written to automate a security workflow? Walk me through the script.

What they are checking: Whether their scripting skills are real and practical, since automating security workflows is a stated requirement of this job.

How do you tell a false positive from a real finding in a tool you didn't configure?

What they are checking: Whether they apply their own judgment to tool output instead of trusting it blindly, which prevents wasted effort and missed risks.

The posting requires a bachelor's with five years or a master's with four, plus two or more years hands-on in DevSecOps, DevOps or site reliability engineering. Where do you sit?

What they are checking: Whether their education and hands-on years genuinely meet the posted requirements, so expectations are clear on both sides.
