Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you led a cross-functional team to one integrated strategy for a product. How did you resolve competing priorities?

What they are checking: Matrix leadership across evidence, access, brand, regulatory and device teams.

Tell me about a time you had to influence a functional leader who did not report to you.

What they are checking: Whether they can move senior functional leaders who do not report to them, because asset strategy depends entirely on cross-functional agreement.

Tell me about a time you raised a significant program issue to senior management before it was fully understood.

What they are checking: Whether they raise significant issues to leaders early and openly, because late escalation in drug development is costly and erodes trust.

What would you do

New phase 2 data comes in weaker than expected. How do you lead the Asset Strategy Team to a recommendation for governance?

What they are checking: Whether they can face disappointing data honestly and lead a team to a clear call, because weak programs waste years and money.

Two subteam chairs disagree on the target product profile. How do you get to a decision?

What they are checking: Whether they can resolve disagreements between subteams and make sure decisions get made by the right people at the right time.

What would you do in your first 90 days as the leader of an asset you inherited?

What they are checking: Getting up to speed and building trust with an existing team.

About the work

How do you prepare for a governance milestone review so senior leaders can make a clear decision?

What they are checking: Whether they can frame options, risks and requests so senior leaders can decide quickly, which is the purpose of governance reviews.

How would you balance a strong regulatory path with what payers will need to see for access?

What they are checking: Whether they can weigh regulatory, evidence and payer needs together, since an approved drug still fails if patients cannot get access.

How do you think about lifecycle strategy for an asset from discovery to end of life?

What they are checking: Whether they think across an asset's whole life, from discovery to loss of exclusivity, rather than only the next milestone.

How do you make sure the asset strategy stays aligned with the therapeutic area strategy as things change?

What they are checking: Whether they keep individual asset plans tied to the wider therapeutic area strategy, so investment choices stay consistent as priorities shift.
