Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you worked in a fast-paced setting where priorities changed during the day.

What they are checking: Whether they can stay organized and accurate when middle office demands shift quickly.

Tell me about a time you took the lead on something without being asked.

What they are checking: Whether they really are the self-starter the posting asks for, with a concrete example.

What would you do

A loan trade is past its expected close date and the agent bank isn't responding. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they follow up persistently and keep the client informed about delayed settlements.

Your record of a loan's outstanding balance doesn't match what the agent bank reports. How do you work through it?

What they are checking: Whether they can reconcile against agent notices and find the missed event instead of just plugging the difference.

A client calls asking why their private credit report shows a different position than their own system. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they investigate calmly, explain clearly and fix whichever side is wrong.

About the work

Walk me through how a syndicated bank loan trade settles, and why it takes so much longer than a bond trade.

What they are checking: Whether they understand the slow, document-heavy settlement of bank loans that this private credit role handles daily.

What lifecycle events happen on a bank loan, like paydowns, rate resets or amendments, and how would each affect the fund's books?

What they are checking: Whether they know how loan events flow into positions, income and cash for private credit portfolios.

What is a CLO, at a basic level, and why might administering one be more complex than a typical hedge fund?

What they are checking: Whether they have a working idea of the structured vehicles Hedge Fund Services supports.

How would you calculate the interest owed on a floating-rate loan for a period?

What they are checking: Whether they understand base rate plus spread, day counts and reset dates.

What do you know about private credit as an asset class and why it has grown so quickly?

What they are checking: Whether they have enough market context to understand the clients they would support.
