How do you balance stopping fraud against blocking customers who are doing nothing wrong?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the trade-off between stopping fraud and inconveniencing honest customers, and can make balanced decisions rather than blocking everything suspicious.

You spot something in a case that suggests a wider problem. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they escalate signs of a wider pattern instead of closing a single case, since connected fraud often affects many customers at once.

What do you understand about the confidentiality rules around a financial crime investigation?

About the work

This role investigates activity that indicates exposure to financial crime. Walk me through how you'd work a case from alert to decision.

What they are checking: Whether they investigate cases methodically from alert to decision, gathering evidence and documenting reasoning instead of simply clearing alerts as fast as possible.

How do you authenticate someone on the phone when you suspect the caller isn't who they say they are?

What they are checking: Whether they can verify identity carefully on the phone without tipping off a fraudster, while still treating genuine customers with respect and patience.

What patterns would make you suspect an account has been taken over?

What they are checking: Whether they know common account takeover signs like new devices, contact changes and unusual transfers, which help them catch fraud before money leaves.
