Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Why are you interested in moving from emergency work to donor assessment and monitoring?

What they are checking: Whether they want this kind of work for its own sake rather than as a short stop before going back to the field.

Coverage here runs 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Which of those hours can you reliably commit to?

What they are checking: Whether their real availability matches the nights and weekends the posting says this role requires.

Tell me about a time you had to stay calm and lead during a medical emergency while people around you were panicking.

What they are checking: Whether they can take charge of an adverse event on a busy floor and give non-clinical staff clear directions.

Tell me about a time you trained or coached a coworker on a clinical skill.

What they are checking: Whether they can help lift the floor team, since medical staff often guide screening and phlebotomy staff.

Tell me about a time you followed a written protocol even though you thought your own judgment was better.

What they are checking: Plasma centers run on strict operating procedures, and they want someone who works inside the system rather than around it.

What would you do

A phlebotomist asks you to clear a donor you haven't fully assessed because the line is backing up. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they protect their license and donor safety when coworkers push them to move faster.

A donor tells you something in private that would make them ineligible, then asks you not to write it down. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they understand honest records protect the patients who receive the plasma and can say no respectfully.

About the work

As an AEMT, which of your skills do you expect to use most when monitoring donors?

What they are checking: Whether they connect their assessment and IV training to the real daily work of a plasma center floor.

A donor's hematocrit is just under the cutoff. They ask for a retest because they drank a lot of water this morning. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they follow the retest rules in the procedures and refuse to keep testing until a passing number appears.

What would make you defer a donor during the health history, even when their vitals look normal?

What they are checking: Whether they understand eligibility also covers things like recent tattoos, travel, medications and risk behaviors, not just numbers.

A donor mentions they started a new medication last week. How do you decide whether they can donate today?

What they are checking: Whether they check the approved medication guidance and consult the physician when unsure instead of guessing.
