About your past

This is an advanced practice provider role in maternal fetal medicine, seeing patients at the Hyde Park hospital and offsite clinics. What maternal fetal medicine experience do you have?

What they are checking: Whether they have maternal fetal medicine experience specifically, because high-risk pregnancy care requires knowledge beyond general obstetrics or women's health.

You'd counsel patients about therapeutic regimens and the emotional side of daily living. How do you deliver a difficult result to someone who is pregnant?

What they are checking: Whether they can deliver difficult news to a pregnant patient with care and clarity, because those conversations shape how families cope.

You'd design patient education programs so people can make informed decisions. What makes patient education actually work?

What they are checking: Whether they understand what makes patient education effective, because the posting expects them to design programs that help patients make informed decisions.

What would you do

The posting describes autonomous decision making within the scope of a supervising physician. How do you decide when to act and when to call?

What they are checking: Whether they know when to act independently and when to call the physician, because that judgment is central to safe advanced practice.

This department has 140 clinical providers across the main hospital and seven offsite locations. What would you want to know about your sites, the call arrangement and the panel before you took it?

What they are checking: Whether they diligence the practice pattern the posting leaves open

About the work

You'd order and interpret diagnostic tests including ultrasound, computed tomography and laboratory work. Which do you interpret independently today?

What they are checking: Whether they are honest about which tests they interpret independently, because overstating scope in high-risk pregnancy care puts patients at serious risk.

The posting names performing biopsies and contraceptive procedures, suturing and wound care. Which procedures are you credentialed and current in?

What they are checking: Whether they are credentialed and current in the procedures the posting names, because the team needs to know exactly what they can perform.

Maternal fetal medicine means high-risk pregnancy. What changes about your assessment when a pregnancy is high risk?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how high-risk pregnancies change assessment priorities, because complications can affect both parent and fetus quickly.

The posting names deep attention to adverse drug reactions in vulnerable populations including pregnant and lactating patients. Walk me through how you approach prescribing in pregnancy.

What they are checking: Whether they prescribe carefully in pregnancy and lactation, because drug safety and adverse reactions are especially important in this vulnerable population.

You'd assist physicians during surgery and complicated procedures. What is your operating room experience?

What they are checking: Whether they have real operating room experience assisting physicians, because surgical assistance is a named part of this role.
