Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Wisconsin Longitudinal Study participants have been followed for nearly 70 years. How would you build rapport with someone in their eighties who agreed to one more visit?

What they are checking: Respect and warmth with long-term participants, which keeps people in a study that cannot replace them.

Tell me about a time you made a documentation error or protocol deviation. How did you report and fix it?

What they are checking: Honesty and knowledge of research compliance, since deviations must be reported rather than hidden.

Have you worked with home or off-site visits, and how do you keep protocol standards when you are not in a clinic?

What they are checking: Readiness to keep research quality high in variable settings that a cohort study may require.

What would you do

During a study visit you notice a participant has very high blood pressure or signs of an untreated problem. What do you do?

What they are checking: How they handle incidental findings safely and within protocol and consent rules.

A participant's daughter asks you during a visit whether her mother has Alzheimer's. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they understand what can and cannot be shared in a research setting and handle it with compassion.

How would you contribute to the multidisciplinary consensus process that assigns a diagnosis to each participant?

What they are checking: Ability to present findings clearly to a team of physicians and researchers who rely on their exam.

How do you handle a visit with someone who is hard of hearing, tired or easily confused so you still get good data?

What they are checking: Practical adjustments for older adults that protect both data quality and participant dignity.

About the work

Walk me through a comprehensive neurological and physical exam you would do on an older research participant.

What they are checking: Whether they can perform standardized exams consistently, since research data depends on every exam being done the same way.

How is doing an assessment for a research protocol different from seeing a patient in clinic?

What they are checking: Understanding that research visits follow protocol strictly and that findings are handled differently from clinical care.

What cognitive screening tools have you used, and how do you tell normal aging from early dementia?

What they are checking: Clinical knowledge of dementia assessment, which drives the study's goal of mapping dementia prevalence.
