About your past

Most of this role is yield, turning admitted students into enrolled ones. Tell me about a yield strategy you ran and how you knew it worked.

What they are checking: Whether they understand the difference between generating interest and actually getting students to enroll.

You would work with a corps of CEAS student ambassadors. How would you recruit, train and keep them motivated?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead student workers, since the posting says the role may supervise staff or lead a program area.

Tell me about an event you planned for prospective students. What did you measure afterward?

What they are checking: Whether they evaluate events by enrollment results rather than just attendance.

Recruiting involves travel, evenings and weekends in peak season. How do you keep your energy and your follow-up consistent?

What they are checking: Whether they can sustain the pace of recruitment season without follow-up slipping.

What would you do

How would you explain to a high school junior and their parent why engineering at UWM is worth considering, in about a minute?

What they are checking: Whether they can speak clearly and specifically about the College of Engineering and Applied Science to a family audience.

A student admitted to engineering tells you they are choosing a cheaper school. What do you say?

What they are checking: Whether they can talk about cost and value honestly, connecting families to aid without overpromising.

How do you work with faculty who are busy but whose involvement makes a big difference in recruiting?

What they are checking: Whether they can get faculty to show up for recruitment by making it easy and worth their time.

About the work

What CRM or recruitment tools have you used to manage communication plans, and how do you decide what message goes out when?

What they are checking: Whether they can run segmented, timed outreach instead of sending the same email to everyone.

How would you build relationships with partner institutions like local high schools and two-year colleges in the Milwaukee area?

What they are checking: Whether they see partner schools and transfer pipelines as long-term relationships rather than one-off visits.

Which student audiences would you treat as priorities for an urban engineering college, and how would your approach differ for first-generation students?

What they are checking: Whether they can tailor recruitment to the students the college is focused on, not a one-size pitch.
